USB vs SD?
« on: May 21, 2013, 01:10:21 AM »
I notice that QLS use SD cards exclusively as the storage method for their digital players, is there a particular reason for this?
I thought that USB drives/sticks would be used as they seem to have taken over every other area of electronics where data storage is required, except for cameras.

SD card is the most popular and the simplest media in terms of the hardware and software interface, price, and interface compatibility to all type of the SD cards. To be a music storage media, SD card is good enough in terms of the capacity and reading speed. Because of the simplicity, we can focus more on improving the sound quality with relatively low cost.

Thanks for the reply Cowboy, I wasn't aware that the SD card interface was that different to USB (but then I'm not a techie).
